This project depicts a true start-to-finish process with a newly built modern home in Wicker Park. Construction on the house was still in progress and the backyard remained a dirt field, providing a blank canvas to work from. The finished design incorporated the client’s desire for entertaining throughout the year. Using built-in urban seating, this Chicago outdoor space allows for al fresco dining on warm summer nights or relaxing by the fire on a chilly evening in the fall. Minimal maintenance was also a focus, with the backyard featuring true composite decking, turf greenery, and an integrated self-watering system. A deck off the living area and another off the master bathroom help to maximize the client’s outdoor space in its entirety.
